Umana Noordeen is a highly experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist with over 10 years of practice. She initially qualified as a physiotherapist with honours from the University of Birmingham and currently holds a Master’s Degree in Advanced Physiotherapy.

In addition to private practice, Umana’s interest in sports physiotherapy has led her to work with athletes ranging from track and field Olympic medallists to amateur marathon runners. Umana is the lead physiotherapist for the Maldives Olympic committee and looked after the team in various events such as the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics.

Umana focuses on addressing the root causes of injury through biomechanical analysis and injury prevention methods. By assessing the way each patient moves, she works to identify and help treat the underlying musculoskeletal pathologies and predispositions that lead to injury or athletic inefficiencies.

Umana’s practice emphasises and promotes healthy living and she keeps herself up to date with current research and innovative practices to ensure her patients get the best possible treatments. She believes in an integrated approach, working alongside a team of physicians, surgeons and radiologists to ensure that her patients receive the highest standard of care.

‘I first went to see Umana in March 2016 as part of my rehabilitation program at UME Diagnostics for an historical injury to my right ankle. The injury had been examined and reviewed by several previous specialists without any significant results. Umana was quick to identify the root of the problem and suggested a mixture of acupuncture, massage and corrective exercises. Over the next several weeks and months I was delighted by the progress I made under Umana. She undertook regular reviews of the ankle and foot, modifying the exercise programme and therapy accordingly. Six months later, I am now able to run on a treadmill without pain or severe imbalance, something I had not been able to do for several years prior. I found Umana to be an excellent physiotherapist, always helpful and able to explain in clear, precise language exactly what is wrong and how best to correct it. I cannot recommend her highly enough.’
